Q&A: Why are voters taking out their anger against Bush on GOP congress candidates?

Question by jesswzmn: Why are voters taking out their anger against Bush on GOP congress candidates?
The pattern is clear. GOP candidates for the house and the senate are in trouble and will be in trouble. Even conservative pundits are admitting this is an election year that does not favor congressional candidates…and the reason given is that basically people are unhappy with president Bush and his policies and not happy with the direction he has put the country in.

Yet, in spite of all this, it seems americans are tossed up on whether to elect the democratic presidential nominee whether Clinton or obama when going up against the GOP candidate McCain, who agrees with much of president Bush’s policies.

I find this quirk very fascinating. Anyone has any opinions on this phenomenon? Why would the american electorate be so unhappy with the GOP president Bush and his policies, and be willing to punish GOP congressional candidates for Bush’s perceived bad policies or bad direction…and more willing to reelect and very Bush like policy wise GOP candidate who will
many of Bush’s policies and viewpoints that americans are unhappy with?

Because they indorse everything he does. It’s sort of like Mayor Daley and the city goverment in Chicago.
Nobody has the gull to stand against him.

You have some good analysis there!

I think Obama has a real chance in November too.

I beleive most people see that the problem has been that the dems could get nothing done because they do not have a veto proof majority in the senate or house. I beleive they will have after November so no matter who wins the Presidency, more will get done.

It is interesting to note that after the win in Mississippi last night, 3 of the 4 house seats in VERY Republican MS are now held by Democrats! I never thought I would see that again in MS.

The dems have a real chance for the senate seat there too.

All this sensationalizing of the election…so much drama, so little time. Many subjective assertions made with so little merit. The important thing is I make great coffee. Nuff said.

Because they are idiots! Bush is a good man and I do not care what anybody says! his policies are not bad and they work, all except the No child Left Behind Act, but that was Congress who agreed to it, so you cant just blame Bush!

We really need more democrats in congress seeing how the only meaningful legislation in the last 20 years from a democratic controlled congress was in 1993 when Clinton and then a Democratic controlled congress decided to tax social security income

I heard a Kerry supporter in 2004 say that Bush was elected by an ignorant electorate. People who are voting against a good GOP Congressman or Senator are part of the ignorant electorate who do not inform themselves and take out their anger on them. It all boils down to ignorance and not bothering to learn the facts. There are excellent Senators and Congressmen from both parties in both Houses and they are the ones that should be returned. There are others who should be voted out because they are lousy. Those are from both parties in both Houses as well. People do not bother to learn anything of substance.

Again it is the same old story..most do not look at the candidate as an individual but instead they focus on the wrongs of one person.

Obama has mastered the Art of making people think that Bush is running again. By doing this he takes the focus off of his platform and economic plans.

All he ever says is “Change”, “Bitter”, “Bush” and “Republicans” never stating what “Changes” will be made or how they will be made or who will have to pay for them or how much it will cost.

He has lead most to believe that anyone who has republican after their name is dangerous.

Not saying that all Republicans or Democrats are good or bad. However when one looks at the economic plan that Obama has one can safely say it is the worst that has ever been presented. This is why he has made a point to take the focus off of it by using the mistakes Bush has made to down grade any and all candidates for all positions.

Obama plans to give Africa 1.7 Trillion and his New Programs will cost 840 Billion. That totals 2.5 Trillion in one term. Which will increase the current budget from 3 Trillion to 5.5 Trillion a 95% increase in government spending in one term.

Of the three candidates Obama is the only one that has an economic plan to increase government spending.

His total increase will be 4 times more than what the war has cost so far.

The 1.7 Trillion gift to Africa will have to be borrowed at the taxpayers expence. Borrowing over 1/2 of what the current budget for the US is now to give away to another country is INSANE.

It’s the democratic part of Congress that people are pissed about. They promises everything and delivered nothing. It’s because of them that Congress has an 11% rating. Don’t even try to move the BS to the GOP or Bush, you’ve given yourself away when you do that. Your boy Obama is history and it’s thanks to people like you.
